La costa a la montana…My Valencian Excursion!

Last weekend I went on an excursion with the university and had such an amazing time! On Saturday we took a boat ride (I tried to row the boat- and embarrassingly enough was not strong enough to actually move the boat) Along the lake there were these cute little houses, and a Spanish student told me they were ancient homes called “Baraccas”, that apparently the government is trying to get rid of.  I don’t know much about them, but it was neat to be able to see them, since it seems very likely they might not remain there too long.

From there we went into the mountains and saw the view of the Mediterranean coast, which was gorgeous! Afterward we spent some time on the beach (too cold to actually get in the water) but it was still so beautiful and fun. We then settled into our little hostel in the mountains and had a delicious meal and danced the night away!

On Sunday we hiked up the mountains and saw a ton of different scenery that was truly breathtaking. It was quite a strenuous adventure, and I am already sore, but it was worth every second of it! We had a donkey leading our way, and for a little while I got to ride on him!! After the hike we partook in some delicious paella, and then of course took a little siesta before returning to Valencia. I met so many new people and truly had one of the best weekends yet!
